I want to ask you tonight, how is your stress level?
I don’t know, if you’re like me at all, my stress level the last couple of weeks has just been ridiculous. The whole thing about having a hard time working, and having the kids home, and then the stress about having a child who is susceptible to respiratory issues, but still having to go out and get groceries, and all of that….it is exceptionally stressful.
So I am just curious, how is your stress level tonight?
Regardless of where you’re at, I want to give you the one, the number one thing that you can do to help bring down your stress. But let’s explore briefly why stress is an issue.

Regardless of where you’re at, I want to give you the one, the number one thing that you can do to help bring down your stress. But let’s explore briefly why stress is an issue.
Why Stress Matters
We all know this, but it bears remembering. Stress is an issue because it raises your blood pressure, it raises your cholesterol, it leads to things like obesity, like heart disease, you become more prone to heart attacks and strokes. There’s a lot of things that stress does that is horrible for our bodies.
We could talk about all the ins and the outs of the whys all we want, but the reality is that we are stressing out about things right now that are completely out of our control. It’s hard, we want to control it, and the more we want to control it.
But the more tightly we try to control the things that are going on that we literally have no control over, the more it stresses us out. So I want to give you the #1 thing you can do to help.

The #1 Way To Reduce Stress
This is so simple, it is going to blow your mind. Are you ready?
Take. A. Deep. Breath.
I don’t know if you’re anything like I am, but when I get stressed out, sometimes I feel like I actually have to remind myself to breathe..like at all, let alone take a deep and cleansing breath. I feel like I have to remind myself to breath, just normally.
I get into a state where I am so stressed and so focused on what I am doing, or what I am trying to get out of, that I breathe very shallowly, which is horribly unhealthy for us. It reduces lung capacity and all sorts of other stuff. But the point is your body needs air.
More importantly what it needs to do is accept a lot of air, and let it release. In doing that, you feel the weight kind of lift off your shoulders, you feel the stress start coming down.
I was reading some articles recently that said if you can just breathe deeply for one minute that it helps reduce your stress incredibly.
So I just want to challenge you as we continue through this time when there is a lot we do not know or have control over, to just take that deep breath and let it go.
That is it, that is the #1 thing you can do, and you can do it anywhere!
Now listen, there’s a lot of other things I do to manage my own stress. Right now we are in a world that is just crazy. Quite honestly we have been watching it go insane for at least the last month. So here’s the thing, if you’re looking around and you’re going, how do I stay sane while everything around me is going crazy, I have something I want to share with you.
So I actually have a group that this is what we talk about, how to stay sane in this insane world. I go into much deeper things than what I do here, with very specific tactics and lots of them, with how to keep your mind, with how to deal with things like imposter syndrome, where you feel like you’re an imposter in your own life. I would love to share that with you.
If you want to be part of that, just come over to Facebook and join the Staying Sane in an Insane World group.
