Tylenol & Down Syndrome

Hello my friends, welcome back! I used #Rockingthe21st tonight, so I thought we would get a little rock going.

I am so glad to be back. I took a couple of days, went to a conference and also have been trying to get over this cough. For those who have been watching for a while, I did go to the doctor, and they confirmed there is nothing wrong with me more than spasming bronchioles.

Well let’s get into it. If you don’t know me, my name is Josh Decker and I am so glad that you are joining in. I definitely encourage you to go back and listen to some of my previous videos talking a little bit about what we know about Down Syndrome.

Why You Must Be The Expert In Down Syndrome

Hello my friends, good morning! He was reaching for me to pick him up, now he wants down. Hold on…

So I was planning to have Noah on this morning, but apparently he had other plans this morning. So I want to jump right in and share with a couple stories about advocating for our kids and why it’s so important to understand what’s really going on inside of them.

The Difference Between Inclusion and Treatment

Good morning friends, there is no music this morning, I’m sorry! I am not in my home office this morning and don’t have my cool setup with music and all of that. But, I wanted to continue the conversation we started yesterday. I promise we will not go as long as I went yesterday. Thank you for joining me if you did yesterday, thank you for joining me today.

I want to talk for a minute about the difference between advocating for inclusion and treatment for our kids. October is Down Syndrome Awareness month, and I had the intent of talking about Down Syndrome and the things that are true and the things are misunderstood, and I failed! So now it is time to get on it! I don’t care if we are at the end of the month.

Even within the Down Syndrome Community, there is a lot of misunderstanding about Down Syndrome. So I am going to be doing a series of videos to talk about my wife and I have learned over the last like six months as we have studied from a very smart group of people including an MIT educated biochemist. People that are blowing my mind because they are so smart, but helping us to understand what is misunderstood about our children with Down Syndrome.

Bragging About THIS May Actually Be Killing Your Work

What is going on? Happy Labor Day!

I am curious if maybe you’ve heard somebody brag like this: “Oh you know, that new baby, I’m only getting like two hours of sleep a night.” Or maybe this one, “I’m doing great, man, I only sleep six hours a week.”

What I’ve learned is that when we start bragging about the lack of sleep that we get, like it’s a measure of our awesomeness and effectiveness, and yet we keep pushing ourselves and we keep thinking that we’re going to perform, the more I’m learning that is just not the case.
